The Australian actor recently took to the stage in Bucharest, Romania, where he performed alongside global music sensation Ed Sheeran in front of a massive crowd of 70,000 people. The duo performed Sheeran’s hit “Thinking Out Loud,” marking a significant moment for Hemsworth, who had only just learned to play the drums.
This unique challenge was part of Hemsworth’s ongoing journey in the National Geographic show Limitless With Chris Hemsworth, where he explores various aspects of physical and mental health. For this particular episode, Hemsworth took on the task of learning to play the drums from scratch, aiming to highlight the cognitive benefits of learning new instruments.
In a video shared on Instagram, Sheeran recounted how Hemsworth reached out to him last December about a “documentary” he was filming focused on cognitive health. Hemsworth expressed his eagerness to take on the drumming challenge, despite some nerves about performing live. Nevertheless, he managed to impress both the crowd and Sheeran, who awarded him a special “participation award” after the performance.
The upcoming season of Limitless will continue to feature Hemsworth tackling a variety of physical and mental challenges, guided by experts and mentors.
